La Marco Ortelli S.r.l. offre un servizio di valutazione dell’Idoneità alla Destinazione D’uso (MO-IDD).
The IDD assessment system is designed to evaluate the suitability of collective protective equipment – in this specific case, a fume cupboard – for use with specific chemical reagents, depending on the type of handling carried out.

Within the chemistry laboratory, the fume cupboard is the most important and widely used piece of protective equipment for carrying out experiments. In this regard, the employer must assess its efficiency – and therefore the level of protection it provides – as required and specified in Legislative Decree 81/08, Article 71 – Employer’s obligations:

“The employer shall provide workers with equipment that complies with the requirements set out in the preceding article, is suitable for health and safety purposes, and is appropriate for the work to be carried out or adapted for such purposes; such equipment must be used in accordance with the legislative provisions transposing the relevant EU Directives.”

The calculation model, developed for the IDD in collaboration with academic institutions, is capable of estimating the amount of product escaping from the fume hood and thus estimating the operator’s potential exposure to chemical agents.
