The issue of an inspection certificate for each test carried out on the hoods involves checking an item to assess its conformity. Conformity may be determined on the basis of various factors, such as general requirements and professional judgement. The purpose of the inspection is to carry out a ‘conformity assessment’, i.e. to demonstrate that the specified requirements for an item have been met.
Accreditation attests to the competence, independence, impartiality and confidentiality of certification, inspection and verification bodies, as well as testing and calibration laboratories, and ensures their suitability to assess the conformity of goods and services with the requirements set out in voluntary and mandatory standards.
Accredia is the sole national accreditation body designated by the Italian government, in accordance with European Regulation 765/2008, to certify the competence, independence and impartiality of certification, inspection and verification bodies, as well as testing and calibration laboratories. Accredia is a recognised non-profit association operating under the supervision of the Ministry of Economic Development.

General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories
————————————————————————————————
A laboratory accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 standards offers a service of “assurance”, because the results of analytical tests and calibrations are issued by “competent” laboratories capable of “providing valid results”. This enables accredited laboratories to serve as genuine points of reference in terms of safety and assurance, both for companies and for regulatory bodies. Only laboratories compliant with the ISO/IEC 17025 standard and accredited by Accredia can guarantee the provision of “technically valid” results to support the company’s activities, including in the areas of ensuring the health and safety of operators, safeguarding company assets and maintaining business continuity.
